Christmas

What a wonderful Christmas we had this year. Jonas made this one so special for Tracy and I, he really made us realize what Christmas was all about. He would have been just as amused with some shiny paper but he did get some wonderful gifts from all of his extended family. I hope that everyone reading this had as magical of a holiday as we did.

In my family it's a tradition for the kids to do a Pinata Christmas Eve and who ever knocks it open has to pose for a picture with the pinata after the fact. I'm sure that just because Tracy helped him wasn't the reason Kiley and Rory didn't make the final blow. Everyone showing off their new pajamas before rushing off to bed to beat Santa.

Santa is my friend

This week Jonas went to visit Santa twice and both times he loved it. So the polls were right, no crying!! Although Emily and I have to wonder if trudging through the masses at Cabela's was worth a free picture with Santa, I guess for our little man, it was. Saturday night, Uncle Shannon came over and did some running around with us and then went out to dinner. It was good to see him again. We also finished up all of our Christmas shopping and started wrapping the gifts....I think it just hit us that Christmas is just a few days away....YIKES! Tomorrow, Uncle Jeff flies back to KS and we will get to spend a little time with him before he goes back to Hays. J-Man with Santa and Mrs. Claus

It's my half a year birthday!!

Today is Jonas' 6 month birthday, and he got to celebrate with Rory AND Kiley, because today was a snow day (or as Kiley called it "a Kiley and Jonas day). He had a wonderful time watching the girls sled, but he didn't seem to like it when the snow was blowing in his face. Tomorrow he goes to the doctor for his shots, but he normally takes it pretty well. As long as he's happy we're going to try and make a stop to see Santa also. Bundled Up

We had Jonas all bundled up this morning with the sweater that Pam Darling made him but he wasn't worried about the cold he just thought how lucky am I to have this built in chew toy with me all the time. Unfortunately the socks she made as well were easily discarded as part of his new skill of being able to remove socks as he's playing with his feet.

Santa: Cry or Smile

We had hoped to make it to see Santa last weekend, but it didn't work out. So I thought we would posted a new question on the blog to see how you think he will act when he sees the bearded man.

Weekend Update

Here's our latest posting from the chilly city of KC. Tomorrow is supposed to be my first day back to work...can you say great timing. I love driving on icy roads and in negative degree weather. I really think Tracy should call me in but I really don't see that happening. As long as the electricity doesn't go out I guess I can make it. We did have a pretty fun weekend leading up to the holidays. Niki helped put me in the Christmas mood by coming to KC and carrying on our candy making tradition that we've started. Tracy said that we might have a chance at our own holiday cooking show with all the big ideas we kept coming up with for next year, diamonds in the rough we say. We had a good time and many of you will reap the benefits of some of our new tasty treats like the cranberry, orange, and walnut surprise we put together, my favorite by far. Of course we made some golden oldies like choc covered pretzels and one of my dads favorites (and Tracy's too) peanut brittle. On Saturday we had a little break in our production line to go to Kiley and Rory's dance recital. It was a full house and they were excellent in their routines. The next time you see Rory you'll have to ask her about her spin routine and you may be dazzled off your feet. Jonas had a good time singing to the music and getting his groove on which highly impressed the people around us. Kiley was awesome especially considering she only had three sessions to practice the routine and everyone else had been going for a while longer. Those two are really good for the soul. Today we chanced the weather and ventured out to Lawrence to finish up our Christmas shopping. We are officially done but now someone has to wrap then all, I think we will give Jonas a quick lesson tomorrow night.

I had Jonas packed in on the couch with pillows as I left him for just a few moments to go check on lunch and when I came back this is how I found him. No tears, just smiles all around and me wondering how he did that.

Grammie and Uncle Jeff leave

Grammie and Uncle Jeff have been in town the past few days to help out with everything. They helped me get a lot of things accomplished that have been put on hold because of all the chaos in our life the last few months. Sadly, they went back home today, and I can tell Jonas misses them already. Grammie loves me

Jonas tried avocados for the first time today, and let's just say....he's not as fan! He also got to see his adorable cousin Carson again. She's grown so much since the last time we saw her. Jonas is jealous of all of Carson's hair.

Photo Shoot

We had a pretty relaxed day. Late morning we finally got around to getting out so Momma could do her daily walking. Today we walked around the Legends, thinking the stores might provide a bit of a wind block, we were wrong, it was darn cold out when we started, but warmed up a little bit later. I think this is the longest Em's walked since the surgery, so she seems to be making some good progress. When we came back I decided to have a little photo shoot with Jonas, here are some of the pictures. By the way...don't get used to this 4 postings a day thing. Am I cute or what?

I knew the snowflakes on the windows would work....

Jonas heard us talk about this white powdery stuff called snow, but he wanted to actually see it himself so he asked us to place cling-on snowflakes on the windows in hopes to bring them to our house. They must have worked, because Friday was the first time Jonas got to see snow!! There wasn't enough to stick to the ground that day, but the next day when he woke up there was about an inch of snow on the ground! Sorry you can't see the snow real well in the picture. :)
