Rory withdrawl

Jonas and I have been home sick all week, but hopefully we are on the road back to recovery soon. Emily said that when she talked to Amy on Tuesday to tell her that I wouldn't be dropping off Jonas that Rory cried. I think Jonas misses Rory just as much because yesterday he just started babbling, and we could have swore he was saying RoRo, which is Rory's nickname. Hopefully, they will get to see each other tomorrow night for Halloween. Jonas will get dressed up and probably go to Chris and Amy's for a little party, but if he's not feeling better I don't think we will take him out trick-or-treating. Which stinks, because Em and I were looking forward to the candy. :) The pictures last weekend went well and we can't wait to see them. Chris said he would try and work on them this weekend so hopefully by next week he will have some posted for us to view. After the pictures we stopped by Michelle and Shawn's to see them and the boys and wish them a late Happy Birthday. It was good to finally get a chance to see them. Jonas seems to be getting the hang of eating cereal. All that chewing must wear him out though. My hero...

Oh...I almost forgot one important detail of the night. Emily saved me from the death grip of a gigantic killer wasp!! Ok....so maybe that's a little over dramatic, but as many of you know bees and wasps are one of my greatest fears. Although, I've gotten much better when I encounter them outside, and no longer run screaming like a ninny when they come within 10 feet of me, I still have a problem when they are in the house. When we bought the house we later found out that there are wasps nest in the attic upstairs because the attic vents don't have screens on them (it's an older house). Since we don't spend much time upstairs any more I thought they had found a new home, but the past week two of them have made their way down to the first floor. I guess since it's been cold out and we finally turned on the heater they venture to where the heat is. Thankfully, Emily came to my rescue both times and killed them. What would I do without my hero!?!

More First....

The past few days Jonas has experienced several new firsts. He has his first real cold...runny nose, watery eyes, coughing, and congestion, but through it all, he keeps on smiling. The other night when we went to pick up his high chair the lady helping us asked if he was always that happy. Nothing can keep our little man from smiling!! First thing this morning Jonas and I put together his new high chair. He insisted that he get to help. I was a little scared because normally, Emily reads the instructions because I'm too stubborn to read them, but I let her sleep in because the darn medicine they have her on for her back doesn't let her sleep at night. She was up most of the night. Crazy thing is...the medicine is supposed to make you drowsy, explain that! Anyway...In my mind, you only read the instructions after you've failed to figure it out your self. This time I actually broke down and read the directions carefully, because I knew if she woke up and saw I made a huge mistake I would never hear the end of it. Surprisingly, it was the easiest thing I've ever put together, and I didn't even have any "extra" parts. :) After we all got around and moving for the day we decided to go out and enjoy the nice weather. It had been raining for so many days we figured we better take advantage of it while it's still warm. When we got home Jonas got to try barley for the first time. I don't know if he was excited about eating in his high chair for the first time or if it was the barley he liked, but he sure was happy! Well that's it for now. We still have a few things to do to get ready for family pictures tomorrow. Thankfully, it looks like another nice day! It's that time of year again...

It's official, I've decided to take my experiment from earlier this year and extend it for the whole winter. The beginning of this year, my cousin Jana inspired me (sorry Mark) to stop shaving my legs. She had all kinds of great environmental and feminist reasons for not shaving, but I'll be honest, I was more motivated by laziness and curiosity. Things have been so crazy around here that I haven't had the time to shave for the past two weeks, so tonight I actually had some time and thought I would shower. However, I was again motivated by laziness and decided....the hell with it. I'm going to try and go the whole winter without shaving this time. Emily was pretty much asleep by the time I got out of the shower so she doesn't even know I've decided to extend the experiment yet. (sorry you had to find out this way honey!) I tried to take a picture tonight so you could see what it looks like at the start of my little escapade, but my hair really isn't that long yet and the pictures didn't turn out. I'll give it another try tomorrow. On a less crazier note, we went and got Jonas' high chair tonight. Last week we went to the little shop where we had seen the one we wanted before and found out the store was closed. After a little sleuthing, I found another store in KC that sells them. I'm going to try and put it together this weekend so Jonas can finally have a decent thrown when he eats. I have to say...it's so fun watching him eat. He really loves the rice cereal, and starting this weekend he gets to try barley. Hope he likes it as well as the rice. Well that's it for now. We didn't take any pictures tonight since we did so much running around, so I'll post one from a few weeks ago of Emily and Jonas.

Just another rainy day...

We've seen our fair share of rainy days this week, and today was no exception. I think it rained all day. I overhead someone at work today saying that there was even a chance for snow this weekend, but I have a hard time believing that. Hopefully, the weather will clear up and get a few degrees warmer for our White family pictures this weekend, since we are taking them outside! Nothing really interesting happened today, but I thought I would post some pictures of Jonas in his new winter clothes.

Jonas got a new toy this weekend and since he is a growing boy he wanted to super size and because he's so good we let him. We are expecting hours of fun with his exersaucer. He wasn't able to turn it all the way around but he could scoot a little bit. His favorite feature was the spinning wheel with the beads inside but I'm sure once he figures out he can suck on most of the tall attachments he won't be able to decide on a favorite.

Happy 4 Month Birthday to Jonas

Today was a big day for Jonas. He had his 4 month well baby visit, and we found out he weighs 17 lbs 6 oz. and is 25 1/2 in. long. Em and I were both suprised, we though he would easily be 18+ lbs. We don't mean to brag, but the doctor did say that he was "advanced" and is displaying skills that 6 month olds normally do. :) He also had to get shots this visit. He was so brave he didn't even flinch for the first shot, but he decided he didn't really like the others. His poor little face was so red, but he quit crying 5 minutes afterwards. The secrataries were even amazed that he had actually gotten shots today because he was in such great spirits when we left. He was asleep before we even hit the highway so we stopped at Once Upon A Child and picked up some more winter clothes for him and a Exersaucer. My friend Anitria came over for dinner and to experience Jonas' first serving of rice cereal. He seems to love it! Ahhh...Autumn Nights

Ahhh...this week has been a much better week so far. Thankfully, I had the week off from school, which allowed me to relax for once and actually have some free time. I almost forgot what free time was like. Tonight was a beautiful autumn night, so we decided all three of us needed some fresh air and we went for a walk out at the Legends. Sounds funny to go walking there, but it's nice and flat which is good for Emily's back, and we like to sing along with the music they have playing outdoors. (Yes, we really do sing too.) Of course, Jonas was a hit and flirted with all the girls. He's bound to be a lady killer for sure! After our wonderful evening we decided to come back home and catch the rest of the debate, as you can see ....Jonas wasn't as excited about it as we were. Tomorrow is Jonas' 4 month birthday, and to celebrate he gets to go to the doctor and get more shots. Poor guy! We are both excited to see how much he weights now. My guess is that he's getting close to 20 lbs. Yikes...that means he's almost ready for a different car seat already! Momma and Jonas are fast asleep so I think I'm going to take this chance to try and get a little extra shut eye myself.

Fun Day

Jonas, Amy and Rory hit the pumpkin patch in Topeka today. It sounded like they had a lot of fun until the rain hit. I'm glad that he got to have some entertainment as Tracy caught up on some much needed sleep tonight and I got my steroid shot today. We are on an upward trend and should be back to normal soon hopefully. Jonas couldn't believe the size of these pumpkins. He was so transfixed he let Rory be front and center. I don't know about you but it looks like trouble...these two could become ornery conspirators in the future...now they are just to cute.

It's Spa Day...

I've been meaning to post these pictures for over a week and I keep forgetting. Lori sent us some recent pictures of the the spa day that her and the girls had. Yes, we're still alive...

But barely! Before we get to the pity party part of the post (try and say that 5 times in a row), Jonas wants to welcome his new cousin Carson Olivia to the family. She was born Saturday morning! This past week has been absolutely crazy. We started out Monday on a great note, but by Tuesday it had all fallen apart. We had a big virus outbreak at work and I was at work from 7:30 am until 2:30 the following morning, and then back at work again just 5 hours later. Luckily, it's all contained now. Emily's back pain has been a 7-8 all week so it's hard for her to do much and sleeping is almost worse than being awake. So needless to say none of us have had much sleep this week. To top things off Jonas started getting his first "cold" this week. It hasn't really been all that bad. He mainly just has a cough and a little congestion. It hasn't put a damper on his sunny disposition, and luckily no fever. Oh...and it's finals week for me at school. We managed to make it through this week, although it was in part because we were pretending to be on vacation with Carmen, Stephen and Haden. It looked like they had a wonderful week vacationing up East. This weekend I had some time to get the house cleaned up, mow the yard, and finish my essays for the final. That doesn't sound like a lot, but it was enough to keep me hopping all weekend. Sadly, because of Em's back and Jonas not feeling well we had to miss Michelle and Shawn's birthday parties on Saturday. Hopefully, we get another chance to celebrate with them. Let's hope next weekend starts off a little better than last. :) Tomorrow Em goes in to have another steroid shot for her back. We are praying that this helps relieve some of the pain. I've been dying to get him a bumbo seat, but we tested on out the other day...and the poor boy is already too big to really fit in one. So, last weekend we got him a bilibo instead and he loves it! Correction: I orginally said this was a Sweedish design. My bad, it was made in Switzerland.

Here's the activity center I mentioned in my earlier post. He is wearing the first outfit that Tracy and I got him. We thought it would be December when it would fit.

Weekend Review

Hello Everyone, Well, what can I say other than it's been tiring around here and that's why the posts have really slowed down. Going to work the last two weeks has been hard and I've actually been busy so it is wearing me out. The only thing I want to do when I get home is spend some time with my little man and melt when he flashes me one of his million dollar smiles. Tonight Tracy had a study group so me and Jonas got to spend some good quality time together and he was cracking me up with his version of a giggle. We had a pretty uneventful weekend and had the opportunity to have a little family time. Tracy had Jonas on the floor today with his play center and he is getting so powerful he was lifting it off the ground. He and I did go exercising yesterday with a power walk but if I would of known it would have affecting him that much I wouldn't have had him carry me.
